5tepTracker uses Google Health Connect on Android and Apple HealthKit on iOS for accurate, ML-filtered step counting. Different apps may use different sensors or algorithms, so slight variations are normal. For the most accurate results, make sure Health Connect is installed and permissions are granted.
On Android, Health Connect comes pre-installed on most devices running Android 14+. For older devices, install it from the Google Play Store. Open 5tepTracker, and it will prompt you to grant step, distance, and calorie permissions. You can manage these anytime in Settings > Apps > Health Connect.
Make sure you have an internet connection and Health Connect permissions are granted. Try closing and reopening the app. Steps sync every 60 seconds when the app is open. If the issue persists, check that your device's battery optimization isn't killing the app in the background.
Tap the start button on the Activity tab to begin tracking. The app uses your phone's GPS to record your route, pace, and distance in real time. For the best accuracy, make sure location permissions are set to "Allow all the time" and you have a clear view of the sky.
On the login screen, tap "Forgot password?" and enter your email. You'll receive a password reset link. Check your spam folder if you don't see it within a few minutes.
Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and all associated data including step history, activities, friends, and achievements. This action cannot be undone.
When you sign up, we send a verification code to your email. Enter the 6-digit code to confirm your account. If you don't see the email, check your spam folder or tap "Resend" to get a new code.
Go to the Friends tab and tap the search icon. Search by username or display name. Send a friend request, and once they accept, you'll see each other's steps on the leaderboard and activity feed.
No. Your GPS routes and detailed location data are always private. Friends can only see your daily step count, XP level, and activity summaries (like distance and duration) — never your exact routes.
We collect your email, display name, fitness data (steps, distance, calories), and GPS location during tracked activities. All data is stored securely using Supabase on AWS with row-level security. We never sell your data. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
Yes. You can view all your data within the app. If you need a full export, contact us at support@5teptracker.com and we'll provide your data within a few business days.
